How can winter wheat production be increased significantly? Trial results

Naturamin, an amino-acid-based biostimulant, significantly increases winter wheat production.

Naturamin is an innovative product from the leading Spanish company Daymsa, containing 80% free amino acids and 12.8% organic nitrogen. It is produced as microgranules with excellent water solubility. Naturamin supports plant activity when energy demand is greatest and helps plants overcome stress, including damage from pests and diseases, frost and drought. It is suitable for organic farming and holds various international certifications.

According to FAO data for 2021, wheat was the world’s third most-produced agricultural crop after maize and rice, with 770,877,072 tonnes produced. This was 1.84% higher than in 2020, when production totalled 756,949,628 tonnes. Wheat is a staple of the agri-food chain and is used to produce a range of essential foods. Maintaining production and yield in wheat-growing countries is therefore important.

In 2023, Daymsa conducted a trial in Ontario, Canada, to confirm the benefits of foliar Naturamin application in wheat production (Triticum aestivum, variety 25R61).

At the start of wheat flowering, the trial applied 300 grams of Naturamin dissolved in 200 litres of water per 1 ha. The treatment resulted in a 10% yield increase compared with the control, from 7013,8 to 7687,7 kg per hectare. Grain density and bulk weight also increased by 2.7% as a result of greater dry matter content.

The trial results confirm that foliar application of Naturamin at the start of flowering increases yield per hectare by 10% and improves grain bulk weight.
